Q:Does
Cathy still own Cathy’s Rum Cake Caterers?
A: Yes, Cathy Bua and her husband
Tony are the owners – the only Owners. Cathy oversees the daily operations, while heading the Catering Department
and Tony is the Financial backbone of the Company.
There is only one Cathy’s Rum Cake
Caterers, Inc. established in 1975 and has no claim to or liability for any other company that may bear a similar name.
Over the years, and we don’t know why, other people have laid claim to ownership. If, anyone states they are
the owners of Cathy’s Rum Cake Caterers, other than Cathy or Tony Bua, be wary, and understand they are telling less
than the truth. If this happens to you, please email or call us, we don't want to see good people misled. We
want to empower our customers to feel confident connecting the appropriate people to the authentic product. Always look
for the logo with all the words: “Cathy’s Rum Cake Caterers" and order from the Chandler Villa at 1076 W.
Chandler Blvd., and the Phoenix Location at 4807 E. Greenway. When you do, Cathy can promise that something good will always happen!
Q: I click on your website and nothing happened
– we thought you were closed down.
A: No, we were always open.We don’t know
why someone would put a Portal (whatever that is) over a perfectly good website without our consent – and purposly
mislead our clientele, who have been with Cathy for three generations. It is a sad commentary, and hope one day these people
will grow up. But, we at Cathy’s Rum Cake Caterers have remained upbeat and started this official website: cathys-rum-cake.com
and our official blog: cathysrumcake.blogspot.com to serve our clientele or anyone looking for information on our inspired
products. We will continiously update our website and blog. Because, Cathy has as much
fun making cakes and producing her whimiscal food creations as she does displaying them to her curious clientele.
In
fact, Cathy is having so much fun catering and cake making that she plans on being in business another 34 years. She can never
get away from her wonderful customers and her passion for working with brides.
Q: Do
you ship cakes across the United States?
A:
No.
Q: Does Cathy offer any kind of delivery in the Phoenix Metro Area?
A: Yes, we deliver our Wedding Cakes, and the cost is $75 + depending on the locale. For Smaller Cakes, we recommend
the services of Errand Genie, LLC. They are licensed and bonded, and can deliver your cake and food order at a very reasonable
price. Errand Genie’s Phone Number is 480-907-7844, and their website is: www.errandgenie.biz. Cathy has used Errand Genie, LLC with great cutomer satisfaction.
Q:What
kind of Payment does Cathy Accept?
A: Cathy’s Rum Cake Caterers accepts: Debit
Cards; Cash, In-State Checks; Visa, MasterCard; American Express and Discover.
Q: Can I pick
the flavor of cake to correspond with any filling?
A: Unfortunately, No. Cathy adheres to her time
tested 29 recipes of flavors for her cakes. She has tried all kinds of combinations, like chocolate cake with vanilla rum
custard, but found this type of arrangement becomes very acidic, or chocolate cake will turn the fruit an unappealing color.
Cathy stays with the recipes that she knows will bring you enjoyment.
Cathy uses
only a light, Italian Whipped Cream. Any other icing would be too heavy and tear apart the cake.
Q:
Does Cathy use Peanut Oil or Peanut Product in her Cakes?
A: Yes. From the Cream, Custard and Cake there
is some form of Peanut Product.
Q: Does Cathy make a sugar-free or gluten-free
cake?
A: No. We are sensitive to our client’s allergies and medical concern,
and that is why we are upfront about this issue. We want our customers to have a great experience with our cakes.
Q:
Can someone just come in and pick up a cake?
A: Absolutely, all day long and it only takes 5
minutes to decorate.
Q: Can I Fax or Email a Cake or Catering Order.
A: Not
yet. You can certainly fax or email for information, and we are gearing up for "tech or electronic"
orders for the near future. For now, please call or come in.
Q: What is
Cathy's Rum Cake most popular flavor?
A: Strawberry Rum - by far! Tied for second place is Strawberry
Banana Rum and Raspberry Chocolate. Then there is a handful of really good flavors that Cathy's clients like:
Rum Marble;
Peach Amaretto; Strawberry French Vanilla, Raspberry Rum and Chocolate/Chocolate Rum.
Q: Why
did you close the Store in Scottsdale?
A: Let Cathy answer in her own words:
"I want to thank all my
clients who supported my Scottsdale location for the past 27 years. I merged the Scottsdale store with my Chandler Villa to
take a more interactive role with my catering. The merge is the only change I have made - I'm still the "Head Rummy",
and I haven't left Old Town Scottsdale for good, as I will be cutting cake from time to time in the surrounding galleries.
So, please come see me at me my Chandler Villa for a visit and a hug!"
